Former Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Charlotte Osei has pledged to support 20 teenage mothers from Bukom to either go back to school or learn a trade of their choice.
The former EC boss made this pronouncement when she spoke to Bukom Banku in an interview on his show ‘Bukom Banku Live’ which airs on EIB network’s GhOneTV Sunday.
Mrs Charlotte Osei indicated the youth are the hope of the Country and therefore there is the need for them to be prepared adequately to make the right decisions and choices regarding their development in life.
She added that it behooves on every leader or elderly especially parents to guide and provide for their teenage children whether they have babies or not so they can go back to school or learn a trade that can go a long way to benefit them in their lives.
“Moreso, parents must serve as watchdog over their children, position them for success in any chosen fields of their lives by committing and taking good care of them.”
According to Mrs Osei, she is seeking the help of Non-Governmental Organisations and other stakeholders to raise enough money to support 20 teenage mothers from the Bukom area to enroll them in school so they also can be who they want to be .
She therefore admonished men to desist from taking advantage of young girls who are not mentally developed but rather serve as a source of help for these young girls to make better decisions in life.
