Who was the smartest person of all time? 56

I’ve seen some pretty amazing people in the other answers, but I’d like to present a person with a type of intelligence not so easily defined as academic.

I present you with the current World Chess Champion, Magnus Carlsen:

Who was the smartest person of all time? 57

This guy is simply unbelievable:

  • Before he turned 14, he became a Chess Grand Master in 2004.
  • At 23, he beat Viswanathan Anand and became the World Champion.
  • He has defended his title for 2 years and still is WC.

I can hear you think: “Meh, he’s just another really good chess player, what’s different about him?”

Well, let me give you an example:

This is Magnus playing with 10 people simultaneously, FACING THE OTHER WAY!!

Here goes another one:

Who was the smartest person of all time? 59

This is Magnus playing ONE HUNDRED people simultaneously.

Another funny incident was when Magnus was giving an interview for the “60 minutes” show in 2014[1] and the guy showed him a game he played in 2004, and he recalled the opponent, where it was played, which side he played and who won the match. Let me say that again, he played the match in TWO THOUSAND AND FOUR.

There were some pretty damn intelligent people throughout history, but this type of intelligence is something completely unique.
