Rotational Nurse Accuses Senior Doctor of Sexual Harassment at Hospital

Rotational nurse speaks out about sexual harassment by a senior doctor at a hospital, raising concerns of systemic abuse.

A troubling case of workplace misconduct has emerged as a rotational nurse accuses a senior doctor at her hospital of repeated sexual harassment during working hours. The allegations, which involve multiple incidents of inappropriate touching, have raised serious concerns about the safety of junior staff in Ghana’s health sector.

According to the nurse, the harassment began subtly, with the doctor brushing against her in ways she initially believed to be accidental. However, after a third incident in which the doctor allegedly touched her buttocks again, she became convinced that the behaviour was deliberate.

Seeking support, she confided in a colleague, only to be met with an alarming revelation. The colleague reportedly responded, “He did it to you too?” suggesting that the doctor may have a pattern of similar behaviour towards other staff members.

The nurse noted that the accused is a married man and holds a senior leadership position within the hospital, making it difficult for junior staff to report such incidents without fear of retaliation.

She also recounted a separate experience during her university education at All Nations University in Koforidua, where she claims to have encountered a similar case of harassment. This, she said, underscores a wider issue of sexual misconduct faced by young women in both academic and professional environments.

The identity of the hospital has not yet been made public, and there has been no official response from the facility’s management or the accused doctor. However, the claims have reignited conversations around workplace harassment, abuse of power, and the lack of safe reporting mechanisms for victims in Ghana’s health institutions.

As the story gains traction, advocacy groups and concerned citizens are calling for a thorough investigation and the establishment of stronger safeguards to protect vulnerable staff from abuse.
