Ghana Drunkards Association addressing the press about cancelled demonstration

The Ghana Drunkards Association has announced the cancellation of its planned demonstration scheduled for July 18, 2025, following the government’s decision to convert the stalled National Cathedral project into a National Cultural Convention Centre (NCCC).

The association said the government’s decision aligns with its earlier call to transform the abandoned structure into an edifice that promotes Ghanaian culture, tourism, and the local beverage industry.

The association also praised President John Dramani Mahama, describing him as a “listening president,” and expressed optimism that his administration will introduce measures to reduce beverage prices and support entrepreneurs in the sector.

The association’s Council of Elders, in consultation with other stakeholders, urged members to adhere to the new directive and redirect their efforts towards educating the youth to abstain from drug abuse, which it said is particularly concerning in mining communities.
