About six (6) persons are suffering various machete wounds after confusion broke out at a rally of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) rally at Sung in the Karaga District of the Northern Region.
Retaliatory attacks were witnessed at Nyong and Karaga which left other victims seriously injured and are currently receiving treatment at the health facility in Karaga.
MyNewsGh gathered that the rally was held at Sung which is a stronghold of the governing NPP where several persons were bused to the community amidst the display by motor riders clad in NDC t-shirts.
The Motor riders believed to be members of the NDC in a convoy, reportedly rode to an NPP pavilion sparking the confusion leading to the reprisal attacks after a known NPP member questioned the rationale behind their action.
This was said to have escalated the tension in the area with targeted persons attacked in their homes and left with fractures among other injuries.
The injured have been identified as Zakaria Aminu, Sulemana Musah, Abdulai Aminu, Haruna Abdulai, Musah Abdul Razak and Tia Abdul Rahman.
Police in the area who confirmed the incident to MyNewsGh.com, reveal that no arrest has been made but disclosed that investigations are underway to apprehend the perpetrators of the latest violence.
