Ghanaian midfielder Abu Francis arrives in France for Toulouse move

Ghanaian midfielder Abu Francis is on the verge of completing a permanent transfer to Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse after arriving in France on Sunday night.

The 23-year-old touched down ahead of his mandatory medical examination, the final step before signing a long-term deal that will see him officially leave Belgian club Cercle Brugge, where he has spent the last five years.

Abu’s imminent move comes after strong interest from multiple European clubs, including Burnley (England), Torino and Genoa (Italy), and Turkish sides Basaksehir FK and Trabzonspor. However, the midfielder is believed to have made his decision after holding talks with Toulouse’s manager last week, ultimately choosing the French top-flight side.

Abu Francis joined Cercle Brugge in 2022, going on to make over 60 league appearances, scoring once and providing seven assists. Prior to that, he rose through the ranks at Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy before launching his professional career with FC Nordsjælland in Denmark.

On the international stage, the talented midfielder made his Black Stars debut in March 2024 and has since earned five senior caps.

Once confirmed, the move to Toulouse will mark an important step in Abu’s career as he seeks to make his mark in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
