Disrupted school feeding program at PCE Demonstration Basic School after food was poured away by alleged NDC member

A disturbing incident unfolded at the PCE Demonstration Basic School in Akropong Akuapem, Eastern Region, when an alleged member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) reportedly poured away food meant for pupils. The man confronted the caterers on duty, preventing them from serving meals under the school feeding program.

Eyewitnesses stated that the man claimed to be affiliated with the NDC and argued that the caterers lacked the right to operate due to unresolved issues concerning the school feeding contract. The altercation turned aggressive, and the man was seen forcefully disposing of the food in full view of teachers and students.

The incident left several schoolchildren without meals, sparking outrage among community members and raising concerns about growing political interference in the Ghana school feeding program. Some described the act as “inhumane,” particularly since many pupils depend on the daily meals provided under the initiative.

While education authorities are yet to comment publicly on the matter, residents and parents are calling for immediate intervention to resolve the contract dispute. Many fear that if left unaddressed, such political confrontations could continue to disrupt essential services in schools across the region.
