Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has hinted that Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the MP for Abetifi and Minister for Agriculture, is preparing to contest for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential slot in 2028.

Speaking in a media interview broadcast by Pan African TV, Appiah-Kubi stated that internal discussions and strategic preparations are already underway to position Acheampong as the party’s next flagbearer. Though Acheampong has not officially declared his intention, Appiah-Kubi indicated that his interest is clear among key party figures.

He emphasized that Acheampong’s leadership experience, business background, and appeal across various party factions make him an ideal choice for the NPP as it plans ahead for the 2028 elections.

“He will speak for himself in due course, but I am only a messenger. From what I know, he is the one—and his work speaks volumes,” Appiah-Kubi added.

The former MP praised Acheampong as a unifier who embodies the qualities needed to rally the party and the broader electorate. He described him as a “symbol of victory,” noting thathis candidacy would be well-positioned to retain power for the NPP.

While Acheampong has yet to make an official statement regarding his political intentions, the endorsement by a prominent party figure like Appiah-Kubi signals growing momentum behind his potential candidacy. The 2028 presidential race is expected to be highly competitive, and discussions about the NPP’s next flagbearer are already gaining traction.
