Democracy Hub convener Oliver Barker-Vormawor says he was the victim of a robbery near the Achimota Overhead on Wednesday, November 20, leaving him without several high-value personal items.
In a Facebook post made minutes after the incident, he revealed that the robbers made away with his MacBook, iPad, Google Pixel 9 smartphone, GH₵9,500 in cash, credit cards, two wallets, house keys, Sony headphones, and a number of books. He ended the post with a brief “Hmmm,” capturing the shock and disbelief of the moment.
Later in the day, Barker-Vormawor provided a surprising update: his Google Pixel had been retrieved, but it was completely damaged.
“Google Pixel found. Must have fallen when he was running. But car tyres got to it first!” he wrote, suggesting the device slipped from the attacker during the escape and was run over by passing vehicles.
He has not yet shared further details regarding how the robbery unfolded or whether he has officially reported the matter to police authorities.
The incident has drawn widespread concern on social media, with sympathizers urging government agencies to strengthen security along major routes in Accra, especially high-risk areas like the Achimota stretch.
