Covid19: Suspend election 2020 – Odike tells government

The Presidential Candidate of United Progressive Party (UPP) has asked the government to use the executive power to suspend the election 2020.

Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike indicated, “we are not in normal time to be focusing on conducting this year’s election amidst the outbreak of this coronavirus”

“Elections can wait and fight covid19 head on to protect the citizens” Odike added

The covid19 pandemic has affected the world as confirmed cases passed three million (3m) and over 200, 000 deaths recorded worldwide.

Ghana as at Sunday morning 3rd May, 2020 going to the press, the case has shot from 2,074 to 2,169 with a total of 18 people succumbed to the disease.

Meanwhile the number of recoveries stand at 229 meaning, Ghana is doing well.in managing the virus.

But Mr. Odike speaking to Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Amansan Ntie on Kessben Media disregarded the progress Ghana has made so far and questioned why the government at all cost wants to conduct an election.

“In my opinion I think the government wants to organize an elections at all cost, what is the motive? we must protect the people first” he noted
