The family of the late Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Devine Assiam says they suspect spiritual forces beyond the control of man in the alleged suicide of their son.

MyNewsGh.com on Sunday, February 14 reported that DSP Devine Assiam who was with the Tema Courts Unit at Borteyman was found dead in his room with gunshot wounds and a suicide note.

The wounds suggested he shot himself under his chin and the bullet exited through the top of his left eye without killing him instantly.

DSP Devine Assiam was quickly rushed to the Police Hospital for medical attention where he was admitted but died shortly after.

Reacting to the loss, the head of the family whose name is given as Sammy Assiam indicated that one could not imagine that their son who is a well respected Policeman and the standard of the family kill himself.

According to him, this is an expected happening because Devine is a well disposed and calm Christian man who never showed any sign of illness or had problems and therefore its shocking that he took his life.

“We cannot understand so we are attributing it to forces beyond human control,” the family head told SVTV in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com when asked what might have caused the Policeman to commit suicide.

The family head said they are waiting on the Police to complete their investigations before they can set their eyes on the body because the police needs to ascertain whether his death was truly suicide or someone killed him.
