Pollster and Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, Ben Ephson has charged manufacturers of herbal medicines who claim to have a cure for COVID-19 to infect themselves with the virus and subsequently heal themselves with their products if they trust their medicines to be good.
According to him, the surest way to prove to Ghanaians the quality of their products and make people believe in traditional medicine will be to use themselves as trials.
His comment follows after some herbal medicine manufacturers asked the Food and Drugs Authority to adopt the use of herbal medicine in treating COVID-19 patients because they believe their medicines can cure infected COVID-19 patients.
Reacting to it in an interview on TV3, the pollster said the herbalists must go the extra mile to prove their medications are good enough to tackle COVID-19.
He said, “If you trust your medication and your medication is good, infect yourself and heal yourself. That way you have proof. If you are tested and you are negative, there are some people who have been tested and are positive. You can go and eat with them and when you are tested positive then you heal yourself. That will be the best example to quieting everybody.”
However, Ben Ephson explained his statement is not to belittle the work of the herbal medicine practitioners but rather push them into working harder.
“I am not belittling traditional medicines,” he stressed.
