Police investigate after 20-year-old man stabbed to death in Kumasi over plastic chair dispute

Tragedy struck Ashanti New Town in Kumasi when 20-year-old Kwadwo Bright was fatally stabbed following a quarrel over a plastic chair. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025.

Reports indicate that the misunderstanding started at a snooker game centre, where Kwadwo and his friend, now the main suspect, both claimed ownership of the chair. Although witnesses say the matter was initially resolved, the suspect later confronted Kwadwo and stabbed him in the neck.

The victim’s mother, Georgina Yeboah, recounted her heartbreak after rushing to the scene. “I heard people screaming about a young man being stabbed and rushed to find my son lying there. Though I was told the matter had been settled, the suspect later attacked him, stabbing him in the neck. He died this morning,” she said.

Kwadwo was quickly taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. Police have not yet released an official statement, but investigations are underway to track down the suspect.
