Superstar footballer, Lionel Messi has now earned his 147th cap for Argentina, equaling Javier Mascherano’s all-time appearance record for La Albiceleste.
The Barcelona superstar achieved the record on Monday night June 21, after he started in his country’s 1-0 Copa América win over Paraguay, helping them through to the quarterfinals.
Papu Gómez’s 10th-minute goal was enough to earn a narrow win and maintain Argentina’s unbeaten start to the tournament.
Messi, who turns 34 on Thursday, is already his country’s record goalscorer with 73 goals at the international level.
