Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame has opened up about his childhood struggle with dyslexia, a condition that made learning extremely difficult during his early years.

Speaking in an interview with George Quaye, he stated that he often found it hard to process lessons in school, which led to frequent punishment from both his teachers and parents, who misunderstood the nature of his learning challenges.

These early experiences left a lasting impact, pushing him to pursue education with determination. His academic journey became a personal mission to prove his intelligence, not just to others, but also to himself. What many saw as a limitation became the driving force behind his commitment to personal growth.

Despite the challenges, Okyeame Kwame has grown to view dyslexia as a unique trait that comes with both difficulties and hidden strengths. He believes the condition helped shape his resilience and creativity, even as it made traditional learning more demanding.

Today, his achievements in education speak volumes. After earning two Master’s degrees, he is now pursuing a PhD. His story is a powerful reminder that learning difficulties do not define intelligence and that determination can turn obstacles into stepping stones.
