A 42-year-old Pastor has been arrested for allegedly defrauding scores of unsuspecting victims at Assin South on the pretext of securing them jobs within the Military, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Customs Division, and the Ghana Police service.
The suspect, Abraham Atto Mensah who is said to be a pastor at Mankesim but hails from Kumasi Ntonso in the Ashanti Region was arrested by the Fante Nyankomase police after they had received series of complaints from the stranded victims.
He is alleged to have collected an amount of over ¢100,000 from over 20 people to recruit them into the services.
Some of the victims recounting their ordeal to Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan said the suspect claimed he has a direct link with some bigwigs within the ruling NPP government who can help facilitate their recruitment into the services.
They claim he charged them to buy prospectus and also conveyed them to health institutions for medical examination and had them do the COVID19 laboratory text before their training come Sunday.
The suspect, admitting to the charges said he was a middleman to one Mr. Akwa who is based in Accra.
He however pleaded to be forgiven as he is full of remorse.
Meanwhile, the Assin South District police commander DSP Francis Andam Okyere confirming the arrest to Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, advised the general public to beware not to fall victim to recruitment fraudsters.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned before court soon.
