AdubianewsA major accident was narrowly avoided on Saturday in Sowutuom, Accra, when a vacuum truck crashed into the Glorious Jesus School building after reportedly suffering a brake failure.
Eyewitnesses at the scene revealed that the truck, which appeared to lose control due to mechanical failure, first collided with a Mercedes-Benz, crashed through the school’s fence, and ploughed into the main building.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as there were no students on the school premises at the time of the incident. “It would have been a complete disaster if this had happened on a weekday,” a local resident commented.
According to an eyewitness who narrated the ordeal, the truck driver jumped out of the moving vehicle to save his life, abandoning it before it crashed. The force of the impact caused significant damage to the school’s infrastructure, sparking alarm among nearby residents.
The scene quickly drew a crowd, with many expressing shock over the extent of the damage. Local authorities are expected to investigate the truck accident in Sowutuom and assess the school’s structural integrity.
This incident adds to the growing concerns about vehicle maintenance and road safety in Ghana.
