Frightened schoolchildren and teachers gathered outside Assin Anwiasu school following witchcraft scare

A bizarre incident tied to an alleged witchcraft dispute has thrown a school in Assin Anwiasu, located in the Assin North District of the Central Region, into a state of panic. Both students and teachers are gripped with fear, and some are reportedly considering abandoning the school altogether.

The incident reportedly began with a minor altercation involving two male students, one of whom is the son of the community’s chief, Nana Yaw Kone Ababio. According to the chief, the boys were chatting when a female student approached them. Suspecting that she was eavesdropping, they asked her to leave, but she refused. The confrontation quickly escalated, leading the boys to strike her with a stick.

What initially seemed like a disciplinary issue soon took a mystical turn. Unknown to the boys, the girl was allegedly a witch. After the altercation, she reportedly took the matter to a spiritual realm, where she “tied” the two boys at a witchcraft camp.

Days later, another student claimed to have had a dream revealing the boys’ spiritual bondage, which prompted the school authorities to investigate the matter. When confronted, the girl allegedly confessed to spiritually binding the boys and demanded GHS10 as a release fee on behalf of her coven.

A teacher who took the matter seriously paid the amount, but the girl returned to say the payment had been rejected. She later claimed she fought with her fellow witches and managed to untie the boys. In what she described as a spiritual backlash, she was allegedly slapped by the coven, which manifested physically as severe headaches.

The situation became so alarming that the chief invited a fetish priest to intervene. He also summoned the girl and the individuals she identified as her spiritual accomplices for a traditional hearing. However, none of the named individuals showed up.

The incident has left the school community deeply unsettled, with reports that some teachers are contemplating quitting due to fears for their safety.
