A woman protested at Dumasua Police Station after her mother, a guarantor for a GHS35,000 loan used for a wedding, was detained.

A woman has expressed her anger after storming the Dumasua Police Station with a group of supporters to protest the arrest of her mother, who had acted as a guarantor for a GHS35,000 loan.

According to reports, the loan was taken by another woman who allegedly used the money to finance her marriage ceremony instead of its intended purpose. The borrower reportedly defaulted on repayment, leading authorities to go after her guarantor.

The guarantor, who is said to be the protester’s mother, was subsequently detained by the Dumasua Police, prompting the daughter and others to confront officers at the station.

The incident has drawn public attention, with many questioning the fairness of holding guarantors solely responsible when borrowers fail to fulfill their loan obligations.
