The flagbearer and founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) Akua Donkor has said that the former president Mahama’s decision to be Ghana’s president for the second time is “nuisance”
According to Akua Donkor in an interview with Kofi Adoma on Kofi TV, the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Ghana’s former president, Jerry John Rawlings and his wife have thrown their support behind President Akufo-Addo in coming elections, Mahama therefore do not have a strong feet to stand on.
She added that President Akufo-Addo should be sworn in as President of the Republic as there is limited time to compile new voters register among others.
Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings turned her back of the NDC – a party foundered by her husband Jerry John Rawlings – just before the 2016 elections.
According to her, she had to leave the largest opposition party because “… I am somebody who believes in honesty and hard work. As things started changing I advised myself.”
“I am happy there is a change… I am very happy…because you can’t have a situation where we claim to be doing well, calling ourselves lower-middle income group, and in a miserable situation,” Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings stated.
She further took a swipe at the NDC following complaints from their members that the ruling party has not done enough to transform the country since being voted to power.
She said the opposition party cannot expect the ruling NPP to use 100 days to fix an economy which was destroyed in eight years.
“A party has taken eight years to destroy us and you expect somebody to use 100 days to fix it?” she rhetorically asked.
