An internal communication sighted by this writer says a Community Protection Assistant (Community Police), 28 year-old Kingsford Mensah died instantly after he was run over by a car.
The suspect driver of the car with registration number, GX-9116-20, Kofi Williams, aged 30 has been arrested and held at the Bekwai Divisional Police Headquarters.
Details are scant as to how and why the incident occurred, by the Bekwai Divisional Police Crime Officer, Nana Dwamena Akenteng told this writer in a telephone conversation that, police has begun preliminary investigations and would soon furnish the public with the facts
This is the second time that a policeman has been knocked and killed by a car in March 2021.
It may be recalled that, Constable Enoch Mattey of the Wamfie Police in the Bono region was knocked and killed by a speeding car on the night of 1st March; police suspect that the hit and run driver was Aduana Stars player, Farouk Adams who has since been arrested and put before the court.
There has been quite a number of deaths reported of police officers in their line of duty in 2021.
While some have allegedly taken their own lives, others have reportedly dropped dead and some knocked down by speeding vehicles.
