AdubianewsGhanaian Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Nana Agradaa or Mama Pat, has filed a petition with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) against Hopeson Adorye, a political figure and husband of gospel musician Empress Gifty. The petition alleges that Adorye made threatening comments about Agradaa during a television appearance, causing her fear and panic.
According to the petition, on May 14, 2025, Adorye appeared on TV XYZ and made statements that Agradaa perceived as inciting violence against her. She claims that despite the host’s attempts to have Adorye retract his comments, he refused. Agradaa expressed concern that such remarks could lead to real-world harm, citing past incidents where similar rhetoric preceded acts of violence.
This legal action follows a GH₵20 million defamation lawsuit filed against Agradaa by Empress Gifty. The gospel musician alleges that Agradaa made defamatory statements about her during a May 13, 2025, social media broadcast. In response, Agradaa has acknowledged receiving the writ of summons and expressed her readiness to address the matter in court.
The ongoing dispute has garnered significant public attention, with both parties engaging in a series of legal and public confrontations. As the situation develops, further updates are anticipated.
