AdubianewsGhanaian rapper and entrepreneur Desmond Kwesi Blackmore, widely known as D-Black, has opened up about why artists like Joey B, S3fa, and others have exited his record label, Black Avenue Muzik.
In an interview with Zionfelix, D-Black reflected on his music industry journey, stating that his experiences have allowed him to build lasting relationships and positively impact many lives.
He emphasized that signed artists often enjoy significant benefits, ranging from studio time to promotions, many of which are sometimes offered without charge.
He stated that once they fall out, the label’s willingness to continue giving out such benefits to the musician depends on the relationship they have built even before they exited.
According to D-Black, once an artist parts ways with a label, continued access to these benefits largely depends on the nature of the relationship they maintained with the label even after leaving.
He added that many young artists struggle post-departure because they no longer enjoy the support and resources that came with being signed, forcing them to rely entirely on their own.
When asked whether he plans to shut down Black Avenue Muzik to focus on other ventures, D-Black firmly rejected the idea, affirming his long-term commitment to growing the label and continuing to nurture new talent.
