AdubianewsA viral video has surfaced showing a Ghanaian construction master flogging his apprentice for doing poor work. The master lashed the young man repeatedly while shouting at him for what he called disgraceful workmanship.
The incident happened at a building site. In the video, the master holds a whip and hits the apprentice several times. He accuses the boy of messing up a task. Other apprentices stood nearby, watching silently. None of them stepped in to stop the beating.
The video has sparked public outrage. Many social media users described the act as abusive and unprofessional. They believe the master went too far and should face consequences. Some called on the Ghana Police Service and labour authorities to investigate the case.
Critics argue that no mistake justifies physical assault. They say such abuse has no place in modern apprenticeship programs. Many have pointed out the emotional damage these actions can cause to young workers.
The video has also brought attention to deeper issues in Ghana’s informal apprenticeship system. Some masters still use fear and punishment as teaching tools. Labour advocates say it’s time to end such practices. They want safe and respectful learning environments where apprentices can grow without fear.
