AdubianewsA fire outbreak at Atomic Down near the Save Mall Shopping Centre has destroyed six metallic containers used for commercial activities. The blaze, which broke out late Thursday, sent thick smoke billowing across the area as flames quickly consumed the structures. Fire crews from the Legon Fire Station responded promptly but were met with heavy smoke and intense heat on arrival.
Due to the lack of a nearby hydrant and the fast spread of the fire, additional backup was called in from the Madina Fire Station. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the situation under control and eventually extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading further across the busy commercial zone.
Although an unspecified quantity of materials stored in the affected containers was lost, eight nearby shops were successfully salvaged by emergency crews. Their quick action helped minimize damage to the surrounding businesses and infrastructure.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause of the Atomic Down fire, which has left several traders counting their losses.
