AdubianewsA swift emergency response by firefighters in the Western Region averted a potential tragedy after a serious road traffic collision occurred early Saturday at Kumasi-Shama. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed that a rescue team from the Sekondi Metro Fire Station was dispatched shortly after receiving a distress call.
Led by Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) Kingsley Anane, the seven-member team arrived at the scene with a Dual-Purpose Tender vehicle and quickly initiated a technical extrication operation. Using hydraulic tools, they successfully created the space needed to free a trapped individual from the wreckage.
The operation was completed by 05:35 hours, with the victim safely extricated and handed over to the police who were present at the scene.
As of the latest update, the GNFS has not disclosed the medical condition of the rescued individual, and investigations into the exact cause of the crash are still ongoing. The area, part of the Kumasi-Shama route, is known for early-morning traffic hazards due to low visibility and driver fatigue.
In the aftermath of the incident, authorities are again stressing the importance of safe driving practices, particularly during the early hours of the day when accidents are more likely to occur.
