President John Dramani Mahama has paid tribute to renowned Ghanaian highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, following reports of his passing. In a heartfelt message shared on Facebook shortly after confirmation from the musician’s team, the former President described Lumba as a “musical genius” whose songs captured the hearts and lives of countless Ghanaians.
Mahama reflected on the profound impact Daddy Lumba had on Ghana’s musical landscape, emphasizing that though his voice and rhythms may be silent now, the spirit of his artistry will endure. “His timeless compositions formed the soundtrack to many of our lives,” he wrote.
“On behalf of the Government of Ghana, I extend heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones for this irreplaceable loss,” Mahama added.
The legendary highlife star reportedly passed away after a brief illness. He was 60 years old.
