AdubianewsPresident John Mahama has assured Ghanaians of a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including two ministers and three Ghana Air Force personnel.
In his national address, Mahama said a Board of Inquiry had already been set up by the Ghana Armed Forces to determine the cause of the crash. He also revealed that the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder, commonly referred to as the black boxes, had been recovered to aid in the probe.
“I want to assure the families and the nation that the Ghana Armed Forces has initiated a full and transparent investigation into the circumstances of this crash,” he stated.
The tragic crash occurred during a mission in the Adansi Akrofuom area, though details surrounding the flight and what led to the fatal accident remain unclear. Mahama emphasized the importance of avoiding speculation while investigators do their work. “Questions about the cause of this tragedy are natural and important,” he acknowledged.
The announcement of the investigation is likely to provide some measure of reassurance to the public and the families of the deceased, especially given the high profile of the victims.
Mahama assured that the government is working closely with the bereaved families on matters of body identification, burial arrangements, and ongoing support.
