Ghanaian businessman and National Democratic Congress (NDC) member Alfred Agbesi Woyome is calling for a comprehensive investigation into the tragic helicopter crash that claimed eight lives on Wednesday.
Speaking in the aftermath of the national tragedy, Woyome emphasized the importance of uncovering the root cause of the crash, noting that such disasters have recurred throughout Ghana’s history, dating back to the First Republic.
“This is not the first time something like this has happened,” he stated. “From the First Republic till now, we’ve witnessed several such tragedies, and the narratives we hear around them should not just be accepted at face value.”
He stressed the need for authorities to delve deep into the circumstances leading up to the incident, rather than settling for superficial explanations. Woyome’s comments add to the growing number of voices demanding accountability and transparency in the aftermath of the accident, which killed two cabinet ministers and six others.
Government officials have indicated that a multi-agency investigation is already underway to determine the cause of the crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
