AdubianewsA Ghanaian citizen has taken to social media to call on President John Dramani Mahama to prosecute members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) currently under investigation by the ORAL Team, Operation Recover All Loots. The citizen’s post quickly gained attention online, sparking debates about accountability and the need for decisive leadership in tackling corruption.
The ORAL Team, set up to recover state resources allegedly misappropriated by individuals and entities, has been investigating several high-profile political figures. While details of the cases remain under wraps, the ongoing probes have generated widespread public interest, particularly among citizens concerned about the misuse of public funds.
In the viral post, the citizen urged the President not to hesitate in taking legal action against any NPP member found culpable. According to the message, prosecuting offenders regardless of political affiliation would send a strong signal that corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Public reaction to the appeal has been divided. Some Ghanaians have expressed strong support, arguing that prosecuting political figures implicated in corruption cases would restore public trust in governance. Others have cautioned that due process must be followed to avoid perceptions of political witch-hunting, particularly in the charged atmosphere of Ghana’s political landscape.
As of now, the presidency has not issued an official response to the citizens’ demand. However, the ORAL Team continues its work in collaboration with relevant state agencies, aiming to ensure that any recovered assets are returned to the state. The call for prosecutions adds to growing pressure on the government to demonstrate its commitment to fighting corruption across political lines.
