British-Nigerian artist Darkoo has disclosed that releasing a single song can cost her as much as £45,000. She made the revelation during an interview with Michael Dapaah, where she broke down the huge expenses involved in putting out music at her level.

According to Darkoo, about £15,000 of the budget typically goes into shooting the music video, while another £25,000 is dedicated solely to promotion across different platforms and countries, including the UK, USA, and Nigeria.

Explaining why she invests heavily in her visuals, the singer highlighted that her videos are a form of artistic expression and a vital part of her branding. “The music video is about the art and expression, and it really helps in boosting the music brand,” she said.

Darkoo’s revelation sheds light on the financial commitments artists make behind the scenes to ensure their music reaches global audiences. Her comments also underline how promotion and visuals have become just as crucial as the song itself in today’s competitive music industry.
