AdubianewsA young man has been caught in Kumasi-Suame after residents accused him of selling what is suspected to be fake honey.
According to eyewitnesses, the substance he marketed as honey was allegedly produced from foam mattress material. The unusual product sparked suspicion among residents, who confronted him before the case drew wider attention.
The incident has raised concerns about food safety and consumer protection, as honey is a widely consumed natural product in many Ghanaian households. Residents say such practices endanger public health and call on authorities to intensify monitoring of unregulated food products in local markets.
Police are yet to confirm whether the suspect will face prosecution, but residents have urged the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to investigate and take steps to protect consumers from harmful counterfeit products.
