AdubianewsThe government of Ghana has strongly condemned what it described as an “unprovoked Israeli attack” on the sovereign State of Qatar, which has left several casualties, fatalities, and extensive damage to property.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, September 10, authorities expressed “deep concern” over the airstrikes, calling them a “clear violation of international law” and a “flagrant affront” to Qatar’s sovereignty. The government warned that such actions risk undermining peace efforts in the longstanding Israel-Palestine conflict.
“The Government of the Republic of Ghana condemns the attack in view of the fact that the airstrikes constitute a clear violation of international law and an affront to the sovereignty of the State of Qatar,” the statement read. “This attack undermines the ongoing pursuit of peace between the States of Palestine and Israel.”
President John Dramani Mahama extended solidarity to the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Qatari people. Ghana also commended Qatar for its consistent diplomatic engagement in the Middle East, urging the Gulf nation not to be discouraged in its peacebuilding role. “We commend Qatar for its tireless and impressive commitment towards the resolution of the conflict between the States of Israel and Palestine,” the statement added.
The government concluded by calling on all parties to exercise restraint to avoid escalating tensions further. “We further appeal that this condemnable incident is not allowed to derail Qatar’s effort in negotiating a peaceful diplomatic resolution of the conflict,” the statement emphasized.
