Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu has defended President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership approach, saying it strikes the right balance between oversight and autonomy.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, September 15, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu dismissed suggestions that the President micro-manages state institutions.
Instead, he argued, Mahama gives his appointees room to operate while keeping firm oversight to guarantee accountability.
“The President does not interfere unnecessarily in the day-to-day running of ministries and agencies,” he said. “But he certainly keeps a close eye on them to ensure that the right outcomes are being achieved.”
According to him, this style of governance empowers ministers and heads of agencies to be innovative and decisive without losing sight of their responsibilities. “By not micro-managing, he empowers ministers and agency heads to be innovative and decisive. At the same time, he holds them accountable by monitoring progress and demanding results,” he explained.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu further noted that the approach reflects the President’s confidence in his team and commitment to good governance. “This is how you get the best out of your team, trusting them to deliver while ensuring that no one loses sight of the bigger national interest,” he added.
