Former Trade Minister K.T. Hammond speaking about Ghana’s economic recovery

Former Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. K.T. Hammond, has stated that it would be unrealistic to expect the ruling NDC government to transform Ghana’s economy within just 10 months in office.

Speaking in an interview, the Adansi-Asokwa MP explained that the ongoing signs of recovery are not a result of the new administration’s policies, but rather the outcome of initiatives introduced by the previous NPP government under the leadership of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to him, the NPP’s economic measures had already started stabilizing key indicators before the change in government, providing a solid foundation upon which the current administration is building.

“The good works initiated by the outgone NPP government served as the foundation for what we are seeing today,” he said. “I have never heard the NDC-led government claim they are responsible for fixing the economy because they know the policies came from us.”

K.T. Hammond emphasized that economic recovery takes time and cannot be achieved within a few months, especially considering the global and domestic challenges Ghana faced in previous years.
