The stage is set for an electrifying finale in the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) as three academic powerhouses, Mfantsipim School, Opoku Ware School, and St. Augustine’s College, prepare to battle for supremacy at the SGS Auditorium, University of Cape Coast, on Thursday, November 6.
Defending champions Mfantsipim School, affectionately known as Botwe, are on the brink of making history with a potential back-to-back triumph. Their dominant semifinal victory over GSTS and Mankranso SHS has boosted confidence as they chase a fourth NSMQ title, a feat that would solidify their legacy as one of the competition’s greatest institutions.
Standing in their way is Opoku Ware School (OWASS), two-time champions and perennial contenders hungry for redemption. After sweeping aside St. Peter’s SHS and Achimota School in the semifinals, the Akatakyie are eyeing their third national title and their first since 2002, determined to reclaim their place among the elites.
Also in the mix is St. Augustine’s College (AUGUSCO), the 2009 and 2019 champions, who have once again shown their trademark grit. Their thrilling comeback win over Pope John SHS and Amaniampong SHS has reignited hopes of a third championship crown, proving that the Cape Coast giants remain a force to be reckoned with.
With pride, history, and ultimate bragging rights on the line, Thursday’s grand finale promises to be one of the most fiercely contested in NSMQ history.
The question now is, whose legacy will shine brightest at the University of Cape Coast? Botwe’s brilliance, Akatakyie’s determination, or AUGUSCO’s resilience?
Only one will rise as the 2025 NSMQ Champion.
