The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) has firmly rejected reports suggesting that its Chief Executive Officer, Margaret Ansei, has dismissed staff members, describing the claims as inaccurate and misleading.

The clarification follows widespread media reports linked to an internal memorandum dated December 3, 2025. In a statement issued on Monday, December 8, the Agency stressed that no permanent or mainstream employee of GEA has been sacked.

According to the Agency, the controversy stems from a misreading of the memo, which referred to District Coordinators operating under a project-based arrangement rather than full-time GEA staff. These coordinators were engaged on one-year renewable contracts tied to a specific project, with their initial contracts expiring on August 31, 2025.

GEA explained that although the contracts had formally ended, management extended them by an additional two months to ensure smooth continuity of project activities. However, the agency noted that renewal of such contracts is not automatic.

“Under the terms of their engagement, renewal is dependent on performance, attendance, funding availability, project requirements and management discretion,” the statement said.

The agency further clarified that the internal directive simply instructed contract staff whose agreements had expired, as well as national service personnel who had completed their service, not to report to work pending renewal or further administrative arrangements. This, GEA said, is a routine administrative measure designed to promote accountability and proper use of public resources.

Management emphasised that at no point were permanent employees affected by the directive, dismissing reports to the contrary as false.

“The narrative circulating in sections of the media is misleading and should be disregarded,” the statement added, while urging journalists and the public to seek verification before drawing conclusions.

GEA reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, due process and fair treatment of all staff categories, including project-based contract workers and national service personnel whose official tenure has lawfully ended.
