The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has appealed to Ghanaians to continue praying for the government as it works to fulfil the mandate entrusted to it by voters in last year’s general elections.
He made the call on Sunday, December 14, during the annual Damba Festival celebrations held at Asokore Mampong in the Ashanti Region.
According to Mr Muntaka, the government remains resolute in advancing national development through the effective implementation of policies and programmes designed to improve the lives of citizens.
The Interior Minister attended the colourful cultural event alongside the Municipal Chief Executive of the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, other government officials, the Ashanti Regional Gonja Community Chief, and several respected Gonja Queen Mothers.
Addressing the gathering in line with the festival’s theme, “Maintaining Peace and Preserving Tradition for Community Development: The Role of Chiefs and Queen Mothers,” Mr Muntaka underscored the importance of peace, unity and harmony as essential foundations for sustainable development at the community level.
He also conveyed his personal goodwill, as well as that of President John Dramani Mahama, to the Gonja community, reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusivity and national cohesion.
The Asawase Member of Parliament further outlined key government interventions aimed at enhancing the welfare of Ghanaians and strengthening unity across the country.
“I took the opportunity to highlight key government interventions and policies aimed at improving the welfare of our people and strengthening national cohesion,” he stated in a Facebook post after the event.
Mr Muntaka concluded by calling on chiefs, queen mothers and members of the Gonja community to continue supporting the government through prayers, assuring them of its commitment to faithfully delivering on its mandate for national progress.
