The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has announced the arrest of 48 suspected cybercrime operatives in a coordinated intelligence-led operation at Dawhenya in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the Minister said the night-time operation was led by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) in collaboration with National Security and the Ghana Police Service.

According to Mr George, the suspects—believed to be Nigerian nationals—comprised 46 males and two females. Preliminary interrogations have linked them to a range of cyber-related criminal activities, including romance scams, online investment fraud, impersonation schemes, and illicit online gold trading.

Security operatives also retrieved several electronic devices suspected to have been used in the criminal operations. Items seized included 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, one Starlink internet device, and eight MTN TurboNet routers.

“Once again, we have struck at the heart of cybercrime operations within our beloved homeland,” Mr George said.

“We are committed to carrying out intelligence-led surgical strikes against these crime syndicates to ensure that we rid our cyber ecosystem of these criminals.”

The Minister emphasised that while Ghana remains open to legitimate business and innovation, it will continue to be a hostile environment for cybercriminals.

He commended the security agencies involved for their professionalism and vigilance, and wished Ghanaians a “merry digital Christmas and a cybercrime-free New Year.”
