The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to a fair, transparent, and merit-based recruitment process for the Ghana Prisons Service during a working visit to the Prisons Service Training School screening centre in Accra.

The visit formed part of the Ministry’s supervisory responsibilities, during which the Minister inspected facilities, observed the screening process, and engaged directly with applicants and officials managing the exercise. He stressed that the recruitment is being conducted strictly in accordance with laid-down procedures and urged applicants to follow the approved processes.

Mr Mohammed-Mubarak cautioned applicants against any attempt to bypass the system, warning that shortcuts and undue influence have no place in the recruitment exercise. He particularly advised them to be vigilant against fraudsters and middlemen who falsely claim they can secure placements in exchange for money.

According to the Interior Minister, individuals found engaging in such deceptive practices will be arrested and prosecuted. To further minimize the risk of fraud, he revealed that a centralized and traceable payment system has been introduced, allowing applicants to monitor their payments and obtain verifiable receipts.

He further disclosed that comprehensive monitoring measures have been put in place to protect the integrity of the process. These include oversight by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the Police Intelligence Directorate, the National Signals Bureau, and other relevant security agencies.

The Minister commended the Commander and officers in charge of the screening center for their meticulous planning and smooth execution of the exercise. He also praised the discipline and orderly conduct of the applicants, describing it as encouraging.

Mr Mohammed-Mubarak urged security agencies under the Ministry of the Interior to continue learning from one another, adopt best practices in recruitment, and strengthen personnel management systems to uphold professionalism across the services.
