The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a comprehensive timetable for its nationwide reorganisation exercise, set to run from March through September 2026. The process is designed to rebuild and strengthen the party’s structures from the grassroots to the national level ahead of future political activities.

The exercise will begin with a membership update phase, giving both new and existing members the opportunity to regularise their status. Registration is scheduled to take place from March 1 to March 31, 2026. Party officials say this step is crucial to ensuring an accurate and credible membership base.

Following the registration period, the party will conduct a verification exercise from April 1 to April 14, 2026. This stage aims to validate membership records and produce a reliable register to guide the internal elections.

With the register confirmed, the NPP will roll out its grassroots elections in phases. Polling Station elections will be the first, taking place from May 10 to May 16, 2026, marking the start of leadership restructuring at the lowest level of the party.

The process will then move to the Electoral Area elections, scheduled for June 10 to June 15, 2026, as the party continues to build its leadership structure step by step.

Constituency elections are set for July 11 and July 12, 2026, followed by Regional elections on August 8 and August 9, 2026, where regional executives will be chosen.

In addition to local structures, the reorganisation will also cover the party’s External Branches and Chapters. Activities for these groups will run from June 20 to July 19, 2026, with branch-level elections expected to extend into August.

The entire process will conclude with the party’s National elections and conference, scheduled for September 18 to September 20, 2026. During this final stage, national executives will be elected to steer the party’s affairs.

Party leaders say the reorganisation is a critical step toward strengthening internal democracy, enhancing grassroots participation, and positioning the NPP for future electoral success.
