Lockdown; Ban On Gatherings Still In Force

Addressing the nation in a televised broadcast, President Akufo Addo said the lockdown will be lifted from 1 am on Monday, April 20.

Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Kasoa, had been under a partial lockdown for the three weeks in which period Ghana’ coronavirus cases had risen to 1,042.

The president said the ease of restrictions was “in view of our ability to undertake aggressive contact tracing of infected persons” among others.

The President was quick to add that the ban on all forms of social gathering, including religious gatherings and the closure of Ghana’s borders, are still in place.

The president also stressed that strict adherence to social distancing protocol remains in place.
