COVID-19 fight: Drones transporting samples for testing – President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo on Sunday, April 19, 2020, when addressing the nation on measures adopted in the fight against coronavirus pandemic in Ghana announced that drones are deployed to transfer Covid-19 samples.

According to him, Government is deploying drones for transportation of samples taken from persons suspected to be infected with virus for onward delivery to the various centres for testing.

“Government has also introduced the use of drones to expedite the transportation of samples to laboratory centres. On Friday 17th April for example, 51 samples were delivered from the Omenako Drone Distribution Centre to Noguchi,” he said.

“Furthermore, we are introducing rapid results testing to augment our surveillance and enhanced contact tracing efforts, so that we can quickly isolate and treat confirmed cases,” he added.
