Seasoned Journalist, Oheneyere Gifty Anti, has advised Ghanaians to find means of staying safe and protected despite the lifting of the imposed restrictions by President Akufo-Addo.
President Akuffo in a televised address on Sunday, April 19, 2020, announced the lifting of the three (3) week restriction on movement in the Greater Accra Region, Greater Kumasi, Tema and Kasoa, a decision he says is backed by science.
There are varied reactions among Ghanaians following the President’s announcement. While some believe the decision is necessary considering the economic impact of the pandemic, others are insisting the President’s decision may cause a spike in cases, considering in some cases, the demonstrated indiscipline among some Ghanaians in complying with the restrictions.
Adding her voice to the reactions to the President’s address via her facebook page, Gifty Anti, who had early on called for a complete nationwide lockdown said it is time for individuals to put their lives in their own hands, protect themselves and their families and be wise.
“The president of Ghana has spoken. Now we, as individuals have to strategize and decide what to do, to stay safe and protect our families and loved ones.
“The back and forth arguments will not help us, especially, the non-politicians. What we need to do now, is to ask ourselves, ‘what is next?’
“Our lives are in our own hands!!! We shall overcome! Be wise!! Stay safe!!! Stay Alive. And Trust in God,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
