The Ministry of Energy has firmly refuted assertions that it is by an oath of secrecy seeking to gag staff of GRIDCo on matters relating to the energy sector.
There is uneasy calm at GRIDCo over management’s decision to impose an oath of secrecy and confidentiality on the staff.
The staff who are livid about development suspect it is a calculated attempt to restrain them from coming out with certain disturbing issues relating to the company’s operation and the energy sector as a whole.
But responding to the issue in an interview, Head of Communications and Public Affairs at the Energy Ministry, Nana Kofi Oppong Damoah flatly dismissed the claims, insisting it is the last thing the Ministry will do.
He denied knowledge of the said “oath of secrecy and confidentiality” document at GRIDCo indicating that it may be a purely internal issue.
Nana Damoah advanced that there is no cause for alarm because the ministry is ever committed to bringing Ghanaians up to speed with energy-related issues.
“So if the worry is that we are trying to keep information about the power situation away from the people of Ghana, that is not the case. We are actually moving in the opposite direction,” he said.
He stressed that “I am not sure what this is; but I’m sure, that will be about their own internal measures among others.”
