If not for Mahama, Akufo-Addo’s COVID-19 fight would have been useless– Manasseh Azure

Ace investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni holds the view that Ghana would have seen the worse of the coronavirus pandemic if not for the financial investment made in the country’s health sector by former President John Mahama.

According to Manasseh Azure, the nation would have been exposed to the virus like the rectum of a fowl and for that reason, the strides made by the Akufo-Addo led government might not have been recognized had it not been the interventions in the health sector during the tenure of John Mahama.

In a social media post following President Akufo-Addo’s eighth address to the nation on COVID-19 where an announcement was made for the construction of 94 hospitals across the country as part of investments in the country’s healthcare delivery system to make sure future pandemics does not maim the system, Manasseh Azure argued that such a pledge is politically inspired.

Manasseh Azure emphasized that President Akufo-Addo needs to not use the battle against COVID-19 and the presidency to take political benefit against the former president but credit him for his contribution to the nation’s battle.

“I know how it feels. You must prove a point and nullify their “noise” about a certain visionary John Mahama but for whose health sector investment our nation would have been exposed like the anus of a fowl when the COVID-19 wind blew from behind us,” Manasseh Azure Awuni wrote in an open letter to the president.

“Let us first remove the thorns pricking our feet before getting rid of those on our way,” the journalist admonished.
