The Electoral Commission of Ghana has indicated that it has not released any timetable for the December 2020 general polls.

According to the electoral body, a timetable going round on social media purported to have been released by them is ‘fictitious’ and has admonished the public to disregard it.

“The general public is being cautioned to disregard any fictitious election timetable and other letters circulating on social media purporting to have emanated from the Commission,” the commission said in a statement dated May 11, 2020.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has meanwhile said it will observe the necessary protocols when it begins the planned compilation of a new voters register.

The EC said the necessary precautions have been put in place to ensure safety in the execution of its mandate.

“All stakeholders are hereby reminded that plans are far advanced for the compilation of new voters register with a new voter management system for the upcoming 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.”
