A 32 year old young man has been crushed to death by an articulator truck travelling on the Berekum – Jinjini road in Berekum West District of the Bono Region.
Mr. George Ofori the father of the deceased Andrews Amoako has put the blame on the Ghana police and the ambulance service in district, says their late response to rescue the man after the accident led to his death.
He explained that his son travelled to Ayemom and returning to Berekum on a motor bike which he met his untimely death on the Jinjini Berekum road.
The family accused the police and the ambulance service of their poor response after 3 hours of the accident and non was shown up to offer their services to rescue the man from the accident scene.
The father explained that “it took only one police personnel of the Berekum Municipal Police command to come to the scene to retrieve the body under trap”.
“There were no ambulance at the scene to rescue my son, what then is the use of the ambulance given to the district by government?”
According to eye witnesses, the deceased was laid on floor by the road while it was raining but nobody managed to take him to the hospital and unfortunately lost his life on Saturday.
The family has therefore appealed to the government to monitor the activities of the Police and the ambulance service in both the Berekum East and West respectively to provide the needed and quality service for the people.
The driver of the truck has been arrested by the Berekum police while the truck has been parked at the police station pending investigations.
The body has since been deposited at the Holy family hospital morgue for autopsy.
