FrimpongThe Founder and Leader of the Life Assembly Worship Centre, Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews known as Sofo Kyira abosom has said he will continue to boycott mass church activities to help stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The flagbearer of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) in an interview with the media hinted that President Akufo Addo’s decision to ease the restrictions was not the best.
According to him, a one hour church service with a maximum number of hundred members will discourage a lot of church members from going to church and put unnecessary pressure on pastors.
For this reason, the man of God said he will rather continue with his usual counseling instead of a normal church activities until restrictions are eased totally.
“I have membership of over two thousand and i cannot split them for services” he disclosed”
President Akuffo Addo on Sunday May 31st 2020 during his address to the nation eased some of the restrictions to allow religious bodies to worship God at their various worship centers and final year JHS, SHS and University students to write their exit exams, effective Friday June, 5, 2020.
For this reason the President outlined guidelines to help continue to adhere to all Covid-19 protocols even at places of worship and schools.
Some of the guidelines are that a service can go on in church for only an hour.
Also a church shouldn’t take more than hundred members at a time.
