FrimpongDr. Nsiah Asare – the Advisor to the President of Ghana on Health matters – has revealed that competitive football is likely to resume in the country in September after the Ghana Premier League and all other competitions of the GFA were halted by government following the outbreak of the Covid-19 in March this year.
“I am a supporter of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and have been going to the stadium to watch their matches”. According to him, the best way people learn a lot is through football but it is rather unfortunate football is in a halt due to Coronavirus (COVID-19). “It is possible football resumes in September” Dr. Nsiah Asare told Kumasi-based Fox FM.
According to the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service government will continue its plan of lifting and easing restrictions in the country in phases and sporting competitions would not resume not until the first phase of the restriction lifting is done.
“The first phase will end on 31st July, and we will get to know when the next phase will begin in the course of our measures on COVID-19” he told Fox FM on Wednesday morning.
Majority of football clubs in the country are facing financial constraints as a result of the deadly virus and Dr. Nsiah sympathizes with stakeholders of the game and as reveals interest in the local football.
